Toyota has been a leading supplier of innovative lift trucks for over 40 years.
To date, we've sold over 1 million units to thousands of satisfied customers in
over 200 countries. In every phase of our operation there is a total dedication to
quality. It is this dedication that has made our achievements possible. Toyota is
100% committed to delivering excellence from product development to after sales service.
Quality Circles were put in place from the beginning at the Toyota Industrial Equipment
Manufacturing facility in Columbus, Indiana. Quality Circles empower Toyota employees
to make quality their top priority and show our commitment to quality in every phase of
the manufacturing process. If an employee spots a problem, the employee has the power
to stop the production line at any stage in the manufacturing process. Any employee
can stop the manufacturing process, no matter what the problem, to ensure the problem
is corrected right then and there. It could be something as complex as an incomplete
weld or something as simple as a seam that's out of alignment. At Toyota, we believe
in making corrections immediately rather than after the product is built.
By implementing Quality Circles we have dozens of quality control experts watching each
and every lift truck while it's being built. In this fashion, Toyota ascertains that
every lift truck to come off the production line is built to meet Toyota's high quality
standards.
One of Toyota's philosophies is the concept of always improving both in safety and
quality. Employees at Toyota production facilities are constantly encouraged to offer
suggestions or "kaizens" to improve their processes, streamline operations and further
demonstrate commitment to the overall quality of our products. The word "kaizen" means constant improvement and is a
key factor in Toyota quality. At Toyota facilities around the globe, "kaizen" is
spoken often. This word has been incorporated into the Toyota Production System and
is the basis of Toyota's worldwide success.
